The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2025 was successfully conducted on May 4, 2025, across hundreds of exam centers located throughout India and abroad. This year, the exam witnessed massive participation with over 20.8 lakh candidates appearing out of 22.7 lakh registrations. The exam was administered smoothly by the National Testing Agency (NTA), with no reports of any malpractice or controversies, unlike last year’s paper leak incident. According to experts, the exam was notably tougher than previous years, which is expected to impact the cut-off marks, potentially leading to a dip compared to earlier cycles. This article provides a comprehensive update on the NEET UG 2025 results, expected cut-offs, and answer key release.

Key Highlights of NEET UG 2025

Expected Cut-Off Marks for NEET UG 2025

Due to the challenging nature of the exam and a slight decline in attendance, experts from reputed coaching institutes such as Aakash and Motion Education predict a lower cut-off for this year. For the General and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) categories, the cut-off is expected to range between 720 and 155 marks. Persons with disabilities under the General category are anticipated to have a cut-off between 154 and 135 marks. For reserved categories including SC, ST, and OBC, the cut-off is expected to be between 154 and 125 marks, while physically handicapped candidates under these reserved categories may have a cut-off in the 135 to 125 marks range. Specifically for the All-India Quota seats, experts estimate the cut-off will hover between 530 and 560 marks.

Previous Years’ Cut-Off Trends

Understanding the past trends helps predict the current year’s scenario more accurately. In 2024, the General/EWS category cut-off ranged from 720 to 162 marks, whereas in 2023, it ranged from 720 to 137 marks. For the SC/ST/OBC category, the cut-off in 2024 was between 161 and 127 marks, and in 2023, it was between 136 and 107 marks. These trends illustrate a fluctuating cut-off pattern influenced by exam difficulty and candidate performance, which sets the context for the anticipated lower cut-offs in 2025.

NEET UG 2025 Result and Answer Key Release

Important Admission Insights and Exam Pattern Changes

This year’s NEET exam pattern included significant changes. The number of questions was reduced from 200 to 180, and the option for candidates to choose between different sets of questions was removed, meaning every candidate had to answer the same 180 questions. Security measures were also enhanced, with police escorts for question paper distribution, biometric verification for candidates, and exam centers numbering over 5,500 to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the exam. In case of a tie in scores, a random allocation policy will be applied if all tie-breaker criteria are exhausted.
